Product Manager, Sensors
Position Title: Product Manager, Sensors
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Reports To: Business Development Manager
We are currently seeking a Product Manager for our Sensors Product Group. In this role you will primarily be responsible for the engineering design of Hall cell based sensor products and accessories which includes gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. You will also qualify potential customer driven sensor opportunities and ensure that sensor product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals. This position will require both strategic efforts and tactical activities.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop concepts, schematics and assembly drawings for Hall cell based sensors to measure linear and rotary displacement, motion, and position.
- Perform bench verification and validation testing of prototypes and pre-production parts.
- Work with Production to transfer prototype concepts to factory production.
- Analyze field performance problems and customer product returns identifying the root cause and problem solution.
- Provide effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills in the sensor field.
- Demonstrate a technical understanding of customer’s applications and associated soft / hard magnetic components product needs across a wide range of both established and evolving market sectors. This will include our existing product / technology portfolio and new product lines planned for the future.
- Interface with clients to clearly understand their needs and translate those needs into new sensor products and participate in sales and marketing efforts as needed.
- Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Job Demands
- BSEE or higher or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An in-depth knowledge and experience of printed circuit boards (PCB) and integrated circuit (IC) design concepts. Experience working with Gerber files and PCB design software.
- Proven experience with integrating electronic components, sensors, PCBs into an overall sensor module design package
- Experience designing sensor module housings and mechanical components.
- Must be able to understand and define tools and software for use in programing prototype and in-production Hall cell based ICs and PCBs.
- 10+ years of micro-electronic/electromechanical experience as a designer in an electronics environment involving the design, prototyping, testing and transfer to production of electronic products.
- Must have proven experience with Hall Effect devices, PCB design, electronic component selection and microcontrollers.Proven experience with analog/digital circuit design.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with CAD & computer modeling, SolidWorks preferred.
- Experience with magnets and magnetic design concepts is a plus.
- Must have a professional personal presence with an upbeat, energetic personality.
- Must be able to take initiative, be dependable and take pride in their work.
- Strong oral, written and listening communication skills.
