Oil & Gas
We provide an extensive offering of both permanent and electromagnetic solutions to the petrochemical industry based on proven technology and years of practical experience. We have developed an expertise in a number of areas in the petrochemical industry:
- Oil well service
- Pipeline service
- Process pumping & material storage
- Fluid measurement and metering
Oil Well Service
We deliver a wide array of magnetic solutions for the harsh environments encountered in the down hole service industry, both on and off shore, from shallow wells to geothermal depths. Our design engineers are seasoned veterans in designing both permanent magnet and electromagnet components and systems that are ready to tackle your toughest jobs. Our standard design criteria for encased magnetic assemblies for down hole application is 185 °C and 20,000 psi. Our services include full magnetic circuit design, hermetic encasement, vacuum potting for the elimination of trapped air, TIG and laser welding, and magnetic field mapping of the final assembly. We routinely fabricate assembly encasements using high strength alloys such as Titanium, Inconel, Incoloy, Hastelloy and stainless steel.

Pipeline Service
Magnet assemblies that we have designed and manufactured are in operation worldwide on pipeline cleaning pigs, caliper pigs and non-destructive pipeline inspection pigs utilizing the magnetic flux leakage (MFL) principle. The relatively low operating temperatures of pipeline pigging allow greater flexibility in the selection of magnet materials. Our typical inspection designs use Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB). NdFeB magnets are the strongest commercially available magnetic materials, both magnetically and structurally. They are also extremely resistant to demagnetization. For Cleaning Pigs, depending on their type and size, the application may call for any one of a variety of magnet materials, including Flexible Ferrite, Hard Ferrite and NdFeB.
We offer both the standard reusable alnico horseshoe type magnet pipeline marker as well as our own lower cost marker assembly. You have told us that it is not always convenient or cost effective, and that it is sometimes unsafe to spend the additional time and manpower retrieving pipeline marker magnets. As a result, our engineers have developed a lower cost marker assembly. The threaded holes in the top of our marker assembly provide you the option of mounting other components or accessories, and the lower cost of the DMT Marker Assembly make it more cost effective to use it and leave it.

Process Pumping & Material Storage
One of the primary applications for magnets in the process pumping industry is magnetic couplings for sealless pumps. Magnetic couplings eliminate the need for mechanical seals. With their inherent low maintenance, magnetic couplings quickly repay the initial installation cost through lower maintenance down time. We have been designing and manufacturing both standard and custom magnetic couplings for over thirty years, giving us the experience and empirical knowledge to solve all your coupling needs.
We are well versed in the design and application of plate and tank scanners and crawlers used for non-destructive inspection of material storage tank walls and floors. Whether it's source magnets, magnetic crawler wheels or a custom inspection system you're in need of, we have the design solution for your non-destructive testing requirements.
Solutions:
- Magnetic Couplings from fractional Inch/Ounces of Torque to Hundreds of Foot/Pounds
- Synchronous Couplings
- Coaxial Couplings
- Face-To-Face Couplings
- Metallic and Non-Metallic Containment Barriers
- Non-Synchronous Couplings
- Eddy Current Couplings
- Hysteresis Couplings
- Magnetic Seal Assemblies for Ferrofluid Seals
- Non-Destructive Testing of Storage Tank Floors and Walls
- Source Magnetizer Assemblies For Plate Steel
- Magnetic Wheels For Tank Crawlers
Fluid Measurement
Our fluid measurement designs are in application from the refineries, tank farms and terminals of Texas, to silicon wafer processing factories in the Far East. Let us design the magnetic coupling components for your positive displacement flowmeter, sight level gauge or mass flowmeter. Our custom manufactured design for your specific application can be coated, plated or completely encapsulated to ensure the longest product life possible for your harshest metering environment. From design to prototypes to your highest level of production, we're ready to provide the solution to your fluid measurement problems.
